River Run

There's a river run
where I go to have my fun
In its waves I see your face
I don't wanna leave this place

So river take me there
River, take me where
The river runs to shore
I wanna see my baby more
River, run to shore
Let me see my baby more

It hurts to think I might lose
in the thickness of the love in you
But it's here where I feel safe
I don't wanna leave this place / Chorus

And there's nothing you can say
that will make me change my ways
There's nothing you can find
that will make me change my mind / Chorus

So river, run to shore
I wanna see you a little more
Home To Me

When the wind blows just right
you can hear the earth cry
and you feel her shiver in the night
As her rivers flow away
she sings her lullaby
the flowers are her laughter on display

So dance on moonbeams
when you dream
and follow the sunbands
home to me

While you're floating through space
remember to sing
and let the stardust glitter your face
When the light begins to wane
meet me by the stream
and we'll live to together
between the clouds
the lightning and the rain / Chorus
Alone

Looking out my window
waiting for the sun
wishing for a miracle
wondering what I've done
There's no one to save me this time

There's a hole in my heart
and a darkness in my soul
The moon's tears are falling
and I'm so alone

You took a part of me
that no one else could know
My heart, my love, my time
you took my very soul
There's no one to save me this time / Chorus
Even

Who says love should be like this?
Do we know what true love is?
Do we understand
the reasons in our hearts
the reasons we have to part?
As the flame settles on the wind
the moon burns
and the shadows are bent
I am but half a heart
and you are not my other part

I can't help who I love and you can't
stand to see me cry
Let's smooth this jagged edge
and not say goodbye
But since we're both leaving
we're even

The rose you gave is burnt and dead
The rain is drugged
and the river runs red
These shattered glass pieces
cut my skin
but you're hurting too so we're even / Chorus
If There Were No World

Just be still for awhile,
let the air melt away
let the sun pierce the sky,
let the darkness fade
There's a shadow in your mind,
it's blurry and confused
Let it go, let time break
Let the sea cast its shadows,
let the moon escape

If the rain should fall
or a star stop burning
should the rose dissolve
and the tides quit turning
I will love you still it's unconditional
I'd love you
if there were no world at all

I know you're wounded so am I
Jaded and jagged and left behind
It's alright if things fall apart
once in awhile
but you wanted to and couldn't
so you never will ever change
There's a shadow in your mind,
it's blurry and confused
Let it go, let the earth quake
Let the distance between us surround you, you're free
let the smoky fire stray / Chorus

Take this moment to reflect
Remember how good
we used to feel? I do
Maybe it's all for the best, I guess
One more sleepless night
without you / Chorus

Should the snow turn warm or
heaven disappear
Should the dawn crash
into twilight's tears
I'm gonna love you still,
couldn't help loving you
if there were no world at all
Who Am I

Who am I to make you cry
when all you've know is happiness?
Deep inside I felt the ties
come undone when we said goodbye

And I know it was wrong
to let you walk away like I didn't care
But it felt so strong
I thought our love
would always be everywhere
Now I'm living my dreams and my life
but who am I?

How am I to survive
without your love and tenderness?
Can't we try one more time?
Let me find a way to make this right / Chorus

Tell me why the stars in your eyes
fade away when you look at me
Who am I in your life?
All I know is I need you in mine / Chorus

Now I'm losing the love of my life
and who am I?
Caves
Survive

I crave your love,
I long for your warmth
It's hard to survive without you
I miss your touch,
your smile, your voice
You've made it hard to forget you

I want to lay my head on your chest
and listen to what
your heart longs to say

You stole the stars
from heaven for me
and place them in my hair
You'd whisper and tell me
sweet things like,
"To your beauty,
only twilight compares."

I want you to lay me out in firelight
so I can watch the flames
play across your face

If I were to lose myself
under the stars
could you find me again?
If you were water, fire and wind
would you find a way
to be my ground
and could you fill this space
inside my skin?

I want to lay you out in moonbeams
and be in your arms as you fall asleep

I crave your love
It's hard to survive without you
Love Loving You

Space is silence
it moves with a sigh and drifts on and on
It takes its time in its permanence
like a love that has learned
it will soon be gone
But I, I stay just to wake to your face

'Cuz I love loving you
wrong or right I just do
Can't fight what makes you burn
and vow for love in return

Time, life's mortality
it will never stop even if our hearts do
We're bound eternally
These words I say are true,
I would surely die to live without you
Oh I, I pray there's no way
for love to fade / Chorus

What must I do, do you feel the way I do?
This love we share has nothing to fear
A thousand swords hold no threat
Like the sea blesses the sunset
it's not just my hand you hold
Within your soul
I'm home / Chorus
Neverland

Softly falling snow
on her window
He won't be around this year,
she checks her rearview mirror
Reality has gone and the night is long
she don't know where else to go
So she'll drive on through the night
looking for her light

One to save her from her mind
one to catch her fall when she cries
One to love her like no other man
one to lead her to Neverland

She pulls off the road
feeling overwhelmed and old
She takes out his photograph
and gives a little laugh
Where's my soulmate when
I need him?
What's he doing now?
With love and fate along
she's looking for her song / Chorus

She gets into his town
and she finds out
he's got a wife
She turns the car around
and she heads home
tears in her eyes

Now pink and purple skies
will make her cry
She keeps thinking 'bout the man
she was supposed to have
Not everything ends in happiness
not every dream becomes
If he knocks on her door,
she'll let him in
'cuz she is his and he's her one / Chorus
Stars And Tears

Take me where the wind blows
Let me breathe
Show me how the river flows
Help me believe
Could I fall into your arms once more?

A restless flames haunts the night somewhere outside my fear
Silent and waiting to be soaked with stars and tears

I feel like a petal on a rose
leaning down
to kiss the stem
I'm lost in shades of indigo
and sinking sound
holding faith within
Oh, I could fall into your arms once more / Chorus

My heart longs for a rain that mend
this empty cave
My soul desires a release that will bend
this dangerous rage
So, could I fall into your arms once more? / Chorus
Broken Stone

Not one more word out of you
could ever make me stay
I thought about the good things
but I can't escape the feeling
of today
There's a buzz in the air,
electric words,
tears in my eyes
I'm full of love, but empty in your pride

Look how far I've come
without your discretion
You really thought that I
would remain in your oppression?
You made me feel less than human
I'm still alarmed by my confusion
Now I leave you standing alone
Your facade is a broken stone

When you said I meant the world
it was nothing but a lie
I've had enough of all you do
and it's time I said goodbye
You'll always be that way
but I have changed
I feared letting go
but in holding on
I've lost the strength to grow / Chorus

I don't really understand
how I'm not starting over again
but I know it's time for us
to live the truth
My heart beats more
and more without you
This is how we end
I'd rather lose a friend
than lose my soul
if that means just letting go / Chorus
Let You Go

I watch the sun come up,
tears fill my eyes
Heaven's gone, I cry
He left me with misery,
didn't let me say goodbye
Now it's over, time to let go

But it's all behind me now
I can turn and walk away
'cuz I know that I am brave
So just go

I'll always remember you
all the sweet things you did for me
How you were my heaven for awhile / Chorus

I'm learning that
I don't need your arms,
I don't need your time
I don't need your smile,
the sun still shines
without your eyes
So just go

Just go
If I let you go, can I let you go?
I need to let you go, but I'm so scared
It hurts to let you go
Heaven's gone if I let you go
Can I let you go?
I'll let you go
Moonlight Rain
When You're Gone
I watch the sun come up,
tears fill my eyes
Heaven's gone, I cry
He left me with misery,
didn't let me say goodbye
Now it's over, time to let go

But it's all behind me now
I can turn and walk away
'cuz I know that I am brave
So just go

I didn't need to hear the door
slamming when you left
I could see it in your eyes
and it hurt me deep
I'll always remember you
all the sweet things you did for me
How you were my heaven for awhile / Chorus

I'm learning that
I don't need your arms,
I don't need your time
I don't need your smile,
the sun still shines
without your eyes
So just go

Just go
If I let you go, can I let you go?
I need to let you go, but I'm so scared
It hurts to let you go
Heaven's gone if I let you go
Can I let you go?
I'll let you go

The Roots: I went through a phase of writing nothing but compositions. I hope this piece takes you where it took me. The Roots: It took me 10 minutes to write this song. I played the chords and the lyrics wrote themselves. The Roots: This started out as just a poem. Who knew it would turn out to be such a lovely lullaby? The Roots: Tina and I were at a birthday party for one of our friends and decided we should write another song together. So I got out my guitar and an hour later "Alone" was born. The Roots: This song was the result of a breakup in the making, a lot of candles, and a 24 hour power outage. The Roots: This song started out meant for someone else. By the second verse, I was speaking to myself. When I finished the lyrics, I realized I could be talking to anyone. This is one of my favorites. The Roots: This is a song about someone else's breakup. The Roots: I went through a phase of writing nothing but compositions. I hope this piece takes you where it took me. The Roots: This one also started out as a poem. It was the first song I finished after re-recording "Firelight" and "Rising Sun." The Roots: I started writing this song in 2003 and put it on the back burner. In 2005, I met Aaron who helped me to finish the lyrics and turn it into the beautiful duet that it is. Thanks Aar! The Roots: A true story of love, heartache, and patience. The Roots: I wrote this song for a friend. It was written from his point of view. The Roots: This is the only anger song I've ever written. Maybe someday I'll really let loose. I can't even count how times I've re-written this song. Thanks Aar for helping me finish this one! The Roots: It took me 5 years to finally push past the hurt enclosed in this song. After it was finished and I performed it for the first time, I felt released. The Roots: I went through a phase of writing nothing but compositions. I hope this piece takes you where it took me. The Roots: This is a compilation of inner struggles and questions I never dared to ask the person it was directed to. Aaron told me it was my best work after hearing it for the first time.
